Scott’s Run Settlement House to hold community open house at new location

Scott’s Run Settlement House (SRSH) is holding a community celebration open house from
noon-1:30 p.m. July 13 at the new Fairchance Road facility, 750 Fairchance Road in Morgantown.
This event will recognize the rich history of SRSH, the current programs helping county residents, and guests can see everything the new facility has to offer.

“This new Fairchance Road location is a testament to the over 100-year relationship between the West Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church and SRSH. We are extremely grateful to both the Conference and Cheat Lake United Methodist Church leadership coming together to allow this move to happen. It really is a transformational gift for the organization and for Monongalia County.” said Executive Director Michael Richard.

This SRSH’s celebration is open to the public and anyone who has been a part of the Settlement House or has been helped by SRSH is encouraged to attend.
Leaders from the West Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church, the Mon Valley District and local church representatives will be offering remarks, blessings and prayer to officially dedicate the building. Tours and refreshments will be available following the celebration for anyone interested. Those attending are also asked to consider bringing a non-perishable food item for the food pantry. Parking will be available on site and the event is free to attend.

“Scott’s Run Settlement House has been known in our county for over 100 years as a place to turn when neighbors find themselves facing hard times. No matter your area of need, we want anyone struggling to reach out to us. We have several programs to assist, and if we don’t cover a particular area of need, we will do our best to connect you with the right assistance. This new location will ensure we can continue to serve for decades to come,” said Jessica Bright, SRSH Board of Directors president.

If you need assistance or would like to learn how you can help, reach out by phone at 304-599-5020 or on the website at srsh.org.
