Charles Junior “Skip” Livengood, 91, of Kingwood, passed away at home with family by his side on Friday, June 14, 2024.

He was born in Cuzzart, W.Va. on Nov. 6, 1932, a son of the late Junior Notley and Hazel Ann (Rexroad) Livengood.

Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Charles owned and operated CJ Trucking for many years, fondly remembered by his handle, Charlie Brown. He was then employed at T&T Mine before retiring from the WV Department of Highways.

Charles was a great man of faith, always professing his love of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a lifelong member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in Cuzzart, W.Va. where he served as superintendent for several years. He avidly read and studied the word of God and always spoke to others on “being right with the Lord.”

Charles loved baseball and was well known as a pitcher with an outstanding curveball. He spent many Sundays after church at the Cuzzart baseball diamond. He was also known as “the mint man,” handing out Lifesavers to anyone he met. Charles was a jokester and loved to put a smile on everyone’s face. His greatest joy was being with his family. He will be greatly missed by all that loved him.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mildred “Polly” (Cramer) Livengood; his children, Patricia Wright (Radar), of Kingwood, Allen Livengood (Debbie), of Mechanicsville, Va., Pamela Perrill (Todd), of Morgantown, Tracey Livengood (Julie), of Masontown, W.Va., and Tobey Livengood (Melissa), of Morgantown; grandchildren, Jobie Wright (Desiree), Tabitha Schmidle (Joe), Eric Livengood (Kaci), Jillian Myers (Justin), Zach Perrill, Sam Perrill, Jacob Livengood, Lucas Livengood, Zeke Livengood, Max Livengood; great granddaughters, Nellie Walker Wright and James Juliana Wright; siblings, Edith Liston (and the late John Liston), John “Eddie” Livengood (Nina), Linda Gibson (Richard), Susie Kelly (Ron) and Richard Livengood (Cindy); several nieces and nephews and the rest of his beloved family and friends.

He was preceded in death by one son, Charles Eugene “Gene” Livengood; and his siblings, Curtis “Pete” Livengood (surviving spouse, Sharon) and Gretna Lousie “Sider” Hardman (Jack.)

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mon Health Medical Center, Preston Memorial Hospital, Amedisys Hospice and the EMS services for their care and compassion during Charles and the family’s times of need.
