Paul Leroy Mansberger, 89, of Morgantown, passed away at Morgantown Health & Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.
Leroy was born on Sept. 1, 1934, in Morgantown, a son of the late Paul and Ruby Shaffer Mansberger.
He was a self-employed mechanic and owned Leroy’s Service Station, the old Esso Station behind McDonald’s in Sabraton, for many years. Even after he closed the station and sold the property, the new owner still allowed Leroy and his buddies to come down to the station everyday to shoot the breeze, solve the world’s problems and complain about taxes.
He was a United States Army Veteran who was stationed in France during the Cold War. Leroy enjoyed talking about his time in the service.
Paul is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Shoemaker Mansberger; a brother, Daniel Mansberger; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Also, Leroy leaves behind his “adopted daughter,” Melody Mancini.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Allen Mansberger.
There will be no funeral home visitation.
