1 killed in W.Va. 7 crash on Friday; police search area for man believed to have fled scene

One person was killed in a multiple-vehicle wreck Friday morning on W.Va. 7 (Earl L. Core Road) in the Dellslow area near Homegrown Pizza. The road was closed in both directions for several hours as authorities investigated and cleared the scene.

Officials at the Monongalia County 911 center said the crash involved three vehicles, with one reported fatality.

Following the accident, a police search ensued for a man emergency traffic indicated was believed to have fled from the crash scene. According to subsequent scanner traffic, a suspect was eventually located on Pixler Hill Road and taken into custody. It is unclear what if any charges he may face in relation to the wreck and resulting search.

At the crash site, two vehicles could be seen: One appeared to be missing the entire front end, the other was missing both passenger side doors.

A Jan-Care ambulance that appeared to have sustained front end damage was seen being towed from the scene when The Dominion Post arrived.

Vehicles parked on the lot at Creekside Motors car dealership, which shares a building with Homegrown Pizza, were also damaged.

Details surrounding the cause of the deadly crash, or the identity of the victim had not been released by West Virginia State Police in time for this report.
