Loretta Stone

Loretta “Sally” Jean Stone, 63, of Scotch Hill Road, Newburg, passed away at her residence with family by her side on Friday, May 31, 2024.  

She was born on Feb. 5, 1961, daughter of the late Hess Wolford and Edith (Sheets) Wolford.  

Loretta worked at Gabe’s Store and Warehouse as a line lead for twenty plus years. She enjoyed cooking, making cookies, gardening, sewing, quilting, farming and loved spending time with her family and friends.

Loretta is survived by her husband whom she married on Feb. 10, 1979, Kenneth Dwayne Stone; two children, Amanda D. Deavers and Ronnie, of Morgantown, Kenneth D. Stone II and Ginny, of Scotch Hill; four grandchildren, Hannah, Ryan, Braylynn and Brinlee; three brothers, Conley Wolford, of Kingwood, Michael Wolford and Rose, of Morgantown, Kermit “Butch” Wolford and Peggy, of Rowlesburg; two sisters, Mary Ann Nice and Janet Masters and Chip, of Rowlesburg; mother-in-law, Bertie Mae (Zirkle) Stone; three sisters-in-law, Sheila J. (Ringer) Braddock and Joseph, of Independence, Wilma Summers, Thornton, Pamela Stone, of Philippi; one brother-in-law, Dennis J. Stone, of Scotch Hill; several nieces and nephews.  

In addition to her parents, Loretta is preceded in death by three brothers, Randall Wolford, Walter Wolford, James Sheets; her sister, Barbara; two siblings at infancy, William and Carolyn; father-in law, Vernon “Bud” Ray Stone; one brother-in-law, Danny Stone.  

Family and friends will be received at the Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave., Newburg, from noon on Wednesday, June 5 until time of service at 5 p.m., with Pastor Gary Weaver officiating.
