Donald Lewis

Donald Ralph Lewis, 80, of Independence, passed away at Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, following a brief illness. 

He was born April 7, 1944, in Terra Alta, a son of the late David Stanley and Anna Ellen Ringer Lewis. 

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Ann Greathouse Lewis, whom he married Aug. 10, 1968; two daughters, Patricia Adams and husband, Richard, of Hurricane, and Laura Felix, of Morgantown; eight grandchildren, Kacie Titchenell and husband, Kenneth Titchenell Jr., of Morgantown, Daniel Felix, of Manassas, Va., Kelcie Adams, of Kentucky, Christopher Felix, of Manassas, Va., Faith Adams, of Morgantown, Selena Felix, of Manassas, Va., Hope Adams, of Hurricane, and Richard Adams II, of Hurricane; five great-grandchildren and one on the way; siblings, James Lewis, of Independence, Bill Lewis, of Independence, Evelyn Sapp, of Point Marion, Pa., and Theresa Zinn, of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was a member of the Mount Calvary Assembly of God and enjoyed helping around the church and attending their functions. He was a great woodworker and worked for 18 years as a coal miner, lastly at Blacksville Mine #1. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be sorely missed by his family. 

Friends may join the family to honor Donald’s life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover/Morgantown, from noon on Sunday, May 26, until the 2 p.m. time of the funeral service, officiated by Pastor Johnny Whitehair of the Mount Calvary Assembly of God. Following the funeral service, Don will be cremated.
