Trails located in Star City are closed for paving

The Mon River Trails Conservancy is alerting the community that all sections of trail through the town of Star City are currently closed for a repaving project.

The impacted area starts at the existing paved trail in Star City, through the Tugboat Depot Playground in Edith Barill Park, to the start of the WVU Core Arboretum.

Everyone is asked to avoid this area as Stone Paving will be installing a culvert, clearing the ditch line and milling the asphalt for repaving.

The work involves large equipment and there are no detours.

The closure may continue through the end of May though the project timeline will be determined by the weather.

The Star City Trail Repaving Project is partially funded by a grant from the Federal Highway Administration’s Recreational Trails Program administered by the West Virginia Department of Transportation, Division of Highways. The 20% local match to this federal grant is funded by the Monongalia County Parks and Trails Levy and donations to the Mon River Trails Conservancy.

The total project cost is $247,745.16.
