Arthur Web(b)er

Arthur Web(b)er, known as Butch or Webb to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2024, after a 13-month battle with pancreatic cancer. His soul was lifted to the Lord with his family by his side.

Born on Jan. 10, 1946, in Osage, he resided throughout his life in Morgantown.

The son of the late Stephen Webber and Maud Gertrude Kenyon, Butch is preceded in death by his daughter, Tandala Jo Weber, and his granddaughter Britnee Jo Trentini. He was also the last survivor of his siblings: Stephen F. Webber, David Webber, Stephen “Pooch” Webber, Carl “Moe” Webber, Elsie Jean Webber, Josephine “Patty” Webber, Ruth Webber, Jackie Fisher, Imogene Meadows and Judy Uphold.

He leaves behind a loving and extensive family, including his wife of 42 years, Kimberly Hardway Webber. He was a caring father to his son, Travis Rock Weber of Morgantown; and his daughters, Tonya Marquette Weber and Elaina Maude Webber, both of Morgantown.

Butch loved being a grandfather, or, as they called him, “Pap” to his grandchildren, Seth Adam Trentini, Molly Marquette Miller and Logan Rock Weber, with the addition of Logan’s wife, Megan Smith Weber.

Butch was a graduate of University High School, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked as a coal miner his entire career at Osage/Blacksville Mines. He was a proud member of the UMWA Local 4043 and retired as a UMWA Local 1702 member. He took pride in being a coal miner and had a work ethic that never stopped. He was a true example of hard work, courage and strength that continued until he took his last breath!

Butch loved spending time with his immediate family as well as several nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces, and nephews. His home was always open and the candy dish was always full. He always looked forward to the holidays with family, family reunions and the infamous family card gatherings. He was the greatest at writing poems and singing songs while making them up as he went along! He loved to fish, hunt, garden and tinker in the garage. And up until recently, you would find him playing cards or bingo at the Westover Senior Center.

For those who knew Butch, they got to experience the generous, selfless, caring, kind and witty person that he was. He always had a story to tell, a shoulder to lean on, a joke to make your day and a welcome to all!

To our beloved Butch, Dad, Pap ~ we love you every day and now we will miss you every day!

Family and friends are invited to gather at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 4-8 p.m. and again on Friday from noon until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. with Pastor Willard Rowan officiating.
