Juanita Moran

Juanita May Moran, 92, of Masontown, passed away Friday, March 29, 2024, at home with family by her side.

She was born in Hudson, on Oct. 16, 1931, a daughter of the late Asbury Howard and Irene (Keefover) Gibson.

She was a 1948 graduate of Masontown High School. Juanita loved hand quilting. She would gift her children and grandchildren their own quilts. Juanita won many awards and ribbons for the beautiful pieces she had made. She enjoyed traveling, especially on cruises. Juanita also enjoyed watching WVU sports, the deer, and hummingbirds that were often found in her backyard.

Juanita is survived by two sons, Roger Moran and wife Diane, and Rick Moran and companion Carla Pell; five grandchildren, Christine Morelli and husband Eric, Christopher Moran, Courtney Haynes and husband Luke, Jessica Glotfelty and husband Chris, Joshua Moran and wife Jessica; eight great-grandchildren; brother, William Gibson; sister, Vida McCord; dog, Buddy, and cat, Smokey.

In addition to her parents, Juanita is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Gerald Moran; daughter, Karen L. Moran; stepdaughter, Linda Toothman; brothers, Dennis Gibson and Gordon Thomas Gibson; and sisters, Janet Gamble and V. Blanche Taylor.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Amedisys Hospice for their care and compassion to Juanita and her family during this time.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Juanita’s memory can be made to the Preston County Animal Shelter, 278 Poor Farm Road, Kingwood, WV 26537.

To honor Juanita’s wishes, there will be no public services. Cremation services will be provided by the Field Funeral Home in Masontown.
