Roseline Brand

Roseline Cheslock Brand, 94, of Sugar Grove, Morgantown, departed her earthly life on March 3, 2024, in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her family.

One of eight children, Roseline was the daughter of the late Anthony and Aniela (Nellie) Blach Cheslock. Born Dec. 11, 1929, in Star City, Roseline spent her childhood on the family farm in Laurel Point.

Roseline graduated from University High School with the Class of 1948. She continued to keep in touch with her classmates over the years by helping to plan many class reunions. Roseline worked at Chico Dairy, Moore and Parriot Drug Store, Montgomery Wards, and Champion Stores before becoming a dedicated homemaker and farmer. She was a longtime member of The Laurel Point Homemakers Club and active in Laurel Point 4-H Club, assisting her children by helping to bake cookies, ripping out seams, or washing 4-H calves. She was a member of the Farm Bureau and Westside Senior Center.
Roseline married the love of her life, Harold Brand, on June 9, 1951, and built a home together on the Brand farm. She was always willing to work alongside Harold on the farm. Summertime was her favorite time of the year. Roseline would be found outside, tending her flower and vegetable gardens, mowing the lawn, and driving the hay truck in the hayfield.

Her home was the site of many family reunions, birthday parties, celebrations, 4-H and WVU gatherings. Although she never swam, she enjoyed watching the kids in her pool and was always ready with her lifeguard whistle. Roseline followed WVU sports and would look forward to watching the Mountaineer basketball games on tv. She unselfishly spent her life making a home for her family and doing for others.

Roseline is survived by four children and spouses; Patricia (Dan) Adams, of Raleigh, N.C.; Ronald (Carol) Brand, Janet (Steve) Lawrence, and Roger (Jeannine) Brand, all of Morgantown.
