Steven Carpenter

Steven Ray Carpenter, 57, of Masontown, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, at home surrounded by family.

He was born in Fairfax, Va., on March 3, 1966, a son of Robert Bruce Sr. and Mary Jo (Gregg) Carpenter.

Steven was a beloved husband, father, brother, and son. After graduating high school, Steven started working in his family-owned business, Carpenter Excavating and Grading, with his father and brother. When he wasn’t working, he spent his free time farming. This was a hobby he shared with his son, and they have many fond memories on the farm. Anyone who knows Steven knows how well-known and loved he was in his community. It was always a goal of his to make those around him smile or laugh, even through his own pain.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Robin (Wershba) Carpenter; one son, Hunter Carpenter; one daughter, Heather Carpenter; one brother, Robert Carpenter, Jr.; two nieces, Cara Carpenter and Zoe Benson; two nephews, Max Benson and Dashiell Benson; father- and mother-in-law, Martin and Ronda Wershba; and one sister-in-law, Tara Benson.

Steven was preceded in death by many beloved friends that he is now reunited with.

Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown, from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 29, and 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 1, with the scripture prayer service at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Zita Catholic Church at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 2, with Fr.
