The Morgantown History Museum is hosting an exhibition in honor of Black History Month — and beyond.
The exhibition, which celebrated its official opening with a reception on Friday, features Black historical figures and events throughout history of Morgantown and Monongalia County.
The exhibition will be on display through May and centers around a timeline of people and events that helped shape the region.
It was created in cooperation with the Morgantown/Kingwood National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and Scotts Run Museum.
Many people contributed to the creation of this exhibit, including Charlene Marshall, Ron Rittenhouse, Eve Fawkes, the Scott’s Run Museum, the NAACP Morgantown/Kingwood branch, The Shack Neighborhood House, the West Virginia Regional History Center, and the WVU Center for Black Culture and Research.
The museum, 175 Kirk St., downtown, is open from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday-Friday and noon-6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. It is closed for official holidays.
