Elaine Fairbairn Traynelis Yurek, born May 16, 1933, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 27, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Traynelis; and is survived by her husband, Rev. Francis Yurek; her sister June Sayers; her children Lisa Zannino, Vincent Traynelis, Christian Traynelis, Lynette Hackett, and Stephen Traynelis; her 15 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
Elaine earned a Doctor of Education from West Virginia University and was professor and chair at the University of Richmond. Her legacy is her faith in God, ministry to those in need, and work to help every student learn.
The family will receive friends Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 Broad St, Glen Allen, VA, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11. Services are at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 12, at West End Assembly of God, 401 N. Parham Road, Richmond, VA. Donations can be made to Goochland Cares In lieu of flowers.
