Roger Watson

Roger Watson, 75, of Morgantown, passed away Jan. 31, 2024, at home surrounded by his many loved ones. Roger was born in 1948 in Morgantown, to the late Roy A. & Elizabeth J. Watson. Roger worked at Beaumont Glass Factory for 25 years until it’s closing in the early 1990’s. He then worked construction until his retirement in November 2011.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nelda K (Nutter) Watson; his two daughters, Jennifer Watson and fiancé Michael Zybell of Wes Virginia, and Laura Watson of Missouri; his 5 grandchildren, Amber Jett and Zachary Lamoureux of West Virginia, Parker Longstreth of West Virginia, Kayleigh Lamons of West Virginia, Austin Lamons of Texas, and Henry Watson of West Virginia. He is also survived by his 4 siblings, Judy and Jack Hollen of Alabama, Patty and Ed Hopson of Florida, Charlie and Lila Watson of Arizona, and Mary Beth and Mark Welch of Alabama; and his brother-in-law Jerry Nutter of North Carolina; many nieces, a nephew, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews; and many friends that felt like family.

Roger is proceeded in death by his mother- and father-in-law Kenneth and Freda Nutter, and his nephew Joel Hopson.

Roger enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and WVU football teams. But most of all, he cherished all of his time with his wife, daughters and grandchildren. Roger’s battle with Parkinsons Disease lasted for many years, but through it all he never lost the smile on his face or the faith in his heart. He was a soft-spoken man with the best sense of humor until the very end. In the last few years of his battle while not being able to do many of his normal activities, he was still able to go on family vacations to his favorite vacation spot, the Outer Banks.

A celebration of life with be held for Roger at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made in Roger’s name to McCulla Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
