Marcus Thomas

Marcus Allen Thomas, 37, of Newburg, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024, at Preston Memorial Hospital resulting from an accident. He was born on Sept. 15, 1986, in Kingwood, son of Marvin Ray Thomas, Jr., and Vickie Lee (Phillips) Thomas, Newburg.
Marcus graduated for Preston High School, Class of 2005. He served in United States Army with the 82nd Airborne. Marcus worked at Allegheny Wood Products. He loved fishing, bowling and was on the Preston County Men’s Bowling League.
In addition to his parents, Marcus is survived by one sister, Stacy (Thomas) Cox; one nephew, Eli Johnson; two nieces, Cali Cox and Ruby Thomas; four uncles, David Phillips, Newburg, Christopher Thomas, Bryson Lynn Thomas and Sherry, Terry Thomas and Robin, all of Kingwood; four aunts, Barbara Hornyak and Robert of Arthurdale, Wilma Sargen of Kingwood, Christina Reams and David of Merkel, Texas, Sherry Thomas of Abilene, Texas; three very special friends, Cody and Jesse Summers and Andrew Hornyak; and several cousins.
Marcus was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Harold “Buck” Ray and Ruby Frances (Sines) Phillips; paternal grandparents, Marvin Ray Sr. and Ethel Mae (DeBerry) Thomas; two nephews, Xander and Xavier Mancuso; one brother-in-law, Cory Cox; four uncles, Danny Phillips, James Thomas, Ernie Sargent and Robert Goff Sr; and one aunt, Roberta Marshall Phillips.
A Private Celebration of Life and Graveside Service will be held at a later date with full military honors by Preston County Honor Guard and U.S. Army Honor Guard. Bolyard Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the arrangements and honored to serve the Thomas family.
