Richard Weinheimer Jr.

Richard Eugene Weinheimer, Jr., known affectionately as Rick to his family and friends, departed this life on Dec. 30, 2023, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital after a determined battle with a lengthy illness. Born on April 20, 1960, in Morgantown, Rick’s journey was one marked by courage, resilience, and an unwavering spirit.

Rick is lovingly remembered by his mother, Mary Ann Gutta Weinheimer; his brothers, John F. Weinheimer (Tina) of Centerville, Va., and Chris Weinheimer of Morgantown; and his nephew, Tony Weinheimer of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard E. Weinheimer, Sr.; his infant brother, Charles; and his nephew, Philip Weinheimer.

With hands skilled as a carpenter, Rick shaped the world just as meticulously as he shaped the wood he worked with. His craftsmanship lives on in the toy cars, trucks, and crosses that bear his touch — a testament to his artistry and attention to detail.

Having served in the U.S. Marine Corps, Rick brought to life the virtues of discipline and honor, serving his country with the same dedication he gave to all his endeavors. His dry sense of humor could catch you off guard and remind you to smile even on the most challenging of days.

Richard “Rick” Weinheimer, Jr.’s legacy is a beacon of perseverance and joy, showing us that each day is an opportunity to build, to laugh, and to cherish. He lived fully and leaves behind a blueprint of a life well-lived — may his story inspire us all to approach our days with the same fervor and heart.
Rick’s request for a private service will be honored by his family. He will be laid to rest with honors at the West Virginia National Cemetery. The Fred L Jenkins Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
