Gary White Sr.

Gary Lee White Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on Dec. 24, 2023, at home in Morgantown, surrounded with the love of his family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

He was March 7, 1956, born to Donald and Evelyn White in the same vibrant community where he would live a full and inspiring life, touching the hearts of all who knew him.

Gary’s life was marked by a deep love for his family, a passion for his interests, and a remarkable talent for creating and nurturing.

He is survived by his loving wife, Delores Jean Dillsworth-Skidmore White; his children, Gary Lee White Jr. (Danielle), Andy White (Hayley) and Brandy Hillberry (Cory); his bonus children, Ronnie Skidmore (Trina), Brenda Skidmore-Hess (Roger), Patricia Skidmore-Merrifield and Michelle Skidmore-Metz (Albert); and his siblings John, George (Robin), Joey, Randy and sister Barbra Panrell (Lane). His legacy continues through his 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way, whom he was eagerly anticipating meeting.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Deloris Dalton-White; and his sister-in-law, Doris White.

Friends may join the family to honor Gary’s life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover /Morgantown on Thursday, Dec. 28 from 4-8 p.m. and again on Friday, Dec. 29 from noon until 1 p.m., the time of the funeral service in the funeral home with Pastor John Sommers officiating. Interment will follow in the Central Chapel Cemetery, near Philippi.

Flowers are welcomed at the funeral home. However, if desired, contributions in Gary’s memory may be made to WVU Medicine Hospice, 12 Rousch Drive, Morgantown, WV 26501.
