Kettle corn is widely appreciated year-round, but perhaps especially so around the winter holidays, as it makes a terrific treat at parties and a low-stress gift to both give and receive.
Almost Heaven Kettle Corn has been supplying the Morgantown area with sweet and savory varieties of the crunchy snack for years, but last month opened a new storefront. The shop, conveniently located on Don Knotts Boulevard near Green Bag Road, is open from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
A brick-and-mortar location has its advantages. The increased space allowed owner Anthony Semler to expand his offerings to include pepperoni rolls. But these rolls have a leg up on the competition because patrons can customize their orders. The “plain” pepperoni roll is a classic for a reason, but those who desire a little extra oomph can choose from a selection of toppings, including provolone cheese, pepper jack cheese, chili, nacho cheese, marinara sauce, and several types of peppers. The toppings are 75 cents each. Feeding a crowd? Pepperoni rolls are available by the platterful, too.
Starting this week, Almost Heaven will offer daily specials Monday through Friday. On Mondays, patrons who buy three pepperoni rolls will get a fourth free. Tuesdays are an even better deal, as you get a third free when buying two. Wednesdays are a great day to stop in for lunch, as you can get a single-topping pepperoni roll, drink and bag of chips for $9.50. But save your appetite for Thursdays and Fridays when you can get all that, plus a small bag of kettle corn for $13.50. More details are available at facebook.com/WVKettleCorn/.
