Alberta Jean Neely, age 94, of Westover, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023, at Sundale Nursing Home. Alberta was born Feb. 9, 1929, in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Earl J. Faulkner and Edith E. Malone Faulkner.
Alberta was a self-employed beautician. She was a member of the Westover United Methodist Church and was a member of the Women’s group and bible study. Alberta had a wide range of hobbies and interests. She was a member of the Westover VFD ladies auxiliary, Westover Rotary, Red Hat Society, a boy scout leader, and the Westside Civic and senior center. Alberta enjoyed the outdoors, camping, birdwatching and was a wildflower enthusiast. She also enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, painting, bowling and playing cards but her greatest pleasure was being with her family and cooking for them. She was a loving and caring mom, grandmother and great grandmother who was loved and will be deeply missed.
Alberta is survived by her son, Charles Neely of Roanoke, Va.; one daughter, Cindy Keith of Westover, grandchildren, Ryan M. Neely and spouse Dana, Alicia M. Neely and fiancé Konata Edwards, Meghan Straface and wife Sarah, Bethan J. Keith and husband Steve Crumpler; great-grandchildren, Annaliese Neely, Faye Neely, Chance Neely, Asher Neely, Olivia Neely, Lilla Straface, and Luca Straface; and several beloved cousins.
In addition to her parents, Alberta was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Neely, and sister, Margaret Hale.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Rd., Westover, from 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5, until the 1 p.m. funeral service with Pastors Kevin Cain and Stacy Chrise-Tritt officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah Cemetery.
