Marlene P. Rohr, 91, of Masontown, passed away Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, at Sundale Nursing Home in Morgantown. She was born in Bretz, on Sept. 13, 1932, a daughter of the late James and Beatrice (Abrams) Hall.
Marlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and homemaker. She was a devoted Christian by faith and a member of the First Baptist Church of Masontown. She often talked about her “church family” and truly treasured their friendships. She attended the Masontown Senior Center where she also had so many good friends. She enjoyed their companionship, doing activities, eating a meal, and occasionally going on bus trips. There were no strangers to Marlene, just friends she hadn’t met yet. She was definitely a big “hugger.”
Marlene is survived by her children and their spouses, Harry E. Rohr Jr. and Rhonda of Morgantown, Robert E. Rohr and Cathy of Core, Mary Nabors and Jim of Morgantown, Doris Kiger and Allen of Madison, Tenn., Charles Rohr of Berkeley Springs, and Edward Rohr of Morgantown; seven grandchildren and spouses; 12 great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry E. Rohr Sr., who passed away in September of 1992; an infant daughter at birth; two brothers; two sisters; and two granddaughters, Emily Sue Rohr Bice and Haley Kay Rohr.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Sundale Nursing Home for the kindness and professional care that she received during her stay there. Also, they would like to thank a special nephew, Larry Reed, for always checking in on her and all the help he gave when she was still living at her home. Marlene always said she knew she had an “eternal home” in Heaven. We know that she is there right now and passing out so many long overdue hugs.
Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown from noon on Sunday, Dec. 3, until the 2 p.m. time of service with Pastor William Winston officiating. Interment will be in Masontown Cemetery.
