Pandora Simmons

Pandora Sue Simmons “Our Yellow Rose” died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023, in the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa.

She was born Jan. 8, 1945, to Don W. Hamilton and Genevieve June Wilson Hamilton.

Sue had one brother, Carney D. Hamilton (deceased), and one sister, Jennifer L. Hamilton Wright. She married Okey E. Simmons on Feb. 22, 1964, who preceded her in death.

They had two children, David M. Simmons and Deborah M. Simmons Jones. They were grandparents to Steven M. Simmons, Victoria M. Simmons Carpenter, and Colby S. Jones; great-grandparents of Lacie M., Richard W., Josephine S., Robert C. Carpenter, and Eleanor D. M. Simmons. Sue always had her “shadow,” Rocky (Kris) Simmons, (her dog).

She retired from Mason-Dixon Elementary School where she was a custodian and will be dearly missed by her family and community.

All services will be private and will be held at the convenience of the family.

She will be buried in the Daybrook Cemetery next to beloved husband, Okey; as well as other family members.

The Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville is in charge of arrangements.
