Norma Wyant

Norma Ruth Arnold Wyant, 83, of Morgantown, passed away on Friday, Oct. 20, 2023.

She was born Nov. 9, 1939, on the Arnold Farm in Romney, and was preceded in death by her parents John R., Sr. and Jessie Clower Arnold, and her two siblings, sister, Dorothy Maynard and brother, John R. Arnold, Jr.

Norma graduated from Romney High School in 1957, and West Virginia University, with a degree in home economics, in January 1961. While at WVU, she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She and her husband, Bill, were married Feb. 4, 1961. They had two children, Sara and Chris.

Norma worked at the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva, New York, after graduation near where her husband, Bill, served in the Army. Upon returning to West Virginia, she and Bill lived first in Weston, then in Charleston, and later settled in Morgantown where she became a member of the Morgantown Church of the Brethren and helped with many activities there. She was also active in PTA, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and was the Alumni Advisor for her sorority on campus — overseeing many projects throughout the years. Later, she received an associate degree in accounting from the West Virginia Business College and began work with WV Consult at the WVU Health Sciences Center, from which she retired. She was an avid bridge player as well.

Norma is survived by her husband of 62 years, William Wyant; her daughter, Sara Goff and husband Jeff Goff of Morgantown; her son, William Christopher Wyant and wife Michelle Wyant of Denver, Colo.; her granddaughters Brittany Goff Mosesso and husband Joseph Mosesso, Bethany Goff and husband Michael Carpenter, and Mahala Wyant; and two great-grandsons, Reid and Luca Mosesso. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Nancy Arnold of Romney, and Dolores Wyant of Morgantown; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joseph and Diane Wyant of Cape Coral, Fla.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Nov. 19, at the Morgantown Church of the Brethren, located at 464 Virginia St. in Morgantown. Fellowship will be from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:30 p.m. The family will continue visiting with friends and family after the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.
