Barbara Louise Amsdell, age 92, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Oct. 25, 2023.
She was born in Pittsburgh, Sept. 24, 1931, the daughter of the late Arthur and Gladys (Williams) Buehler. Barbara grew up in Morgantown where she graduated from Morgantown High School Class of 1949. She then earned a BA degree in education from West Virginia University in 1953 where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.
Barbara married the love of her life, Vern J. Amsdell, Jr., on Aug. 23, 1958. She taught home economics at Harbor High School until her retirement. After retirement she enjoyed working at the Harbor Topky Library for many years.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling with her daughter, especially to N.Y.C. Barbara had a soft heart for animals. Over the years she loved and cared for many furry friends.
Barbara is survived by her twins, David (Sandy) and Alison Amsdell; sister, Sue Ulrey; grandchildren, Emily, Amanda, and David Amsdell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern, Jr.; son, Vern Arthur Amsdell; brother, Art (Bud) Buehler Jr; and sister, Doloris Hastings.
Funeral services will be held at Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula OH, Monday, Oct. 30, 2023, with Rev. Preston Watkins officiating. Visitation will be on from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
Inurnment will be with her husband at Edgewood Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to the APL, 5970 Green Rd., Ashtabula, OH 44004.
