Homes, schools and businesses nationwide are participating in the 28th Annual American Solar Energy Society (ASES) National Solar Tour.
ASES is a nonprofit hosting hundreds of solar-savvy installers and grassroots organizations throughout America who use the National Solar Tour to showcase thousands of solar-powered homes, schools and businesses.
The 28th Annual National Solar Tour is the world’s largest grassroots solar event. Hosted in conjunction with West Virginia Solar United Neighbors (WV-SUN), the goal is to help West Virginia residents cut energy costs, enjoy tax credits and assert their energy independence.
An open house in Morgantown on Sunday will showcase the solar technologies being used locally to 1) reduce monthly energy bills, 2) reduce harmful carbon emissions, and 3) enjoy rich tax credits and cash incentives as they improve their property values.
The Morgantown event will be from 1-4 p.m. at 414 Tyrone-Avery Road, Morgantown. The tour also includes demonstration of electric vehicle charging for an all-electric car. This event is free and open to the public.
WV-SUN is coordinating a Solar and electric vehicle charging coop in this region through Oct. 30, to offer interested buyers additional savings on solar power and electric vehicle charging systems. Details on how to take advantage of cost savings through the co-op will be available at the open house. More information is also available at solarunitedneighbors.org/co-ops/westvirginia/ohio-valley-2023-solar-and-ev-charger-co-op-3/
“I really appreciated having WV-SUN coordinate the solar co-op when we got our solar panels,” said, Jim Kotcon, host for Sunday’s solar open house. “Working with an independent third party gave me the information I needed to feel confident that solar was right for our home.”
The self-guided national solar tours have attracted more than 150,000 people in 49 U.S. states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
Since 1954 the American Solar Energy Society has led the renewable energy revolution. It is the nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the use of solar energy, energy efficiency and other sustainable technologies across North America. ASES leads national efforts to promote solar energy education, public outreach and advocacy.
