Edward “Big Ed” Mayle, Sr., 67, of Morgantown, passed away at MonHealth Medical Center on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023. He was born in Morgantown on Nov. 2, 1955, to the late Franklin Delano Mayle and Mary Lou Crislip Mayle.
Big Ed worked as a maintenance assistant at the power plant for many years. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, bowling, and anything Dale Earnhardt. He was a part of many bowling teams over the years, both at Sycamore Lanes and Suburban Lanes. He had a passion for anything involving the Morgantown Moose Lodge #264. He was always friendly and never met a stranger.
Big Ed leaves behind his wife, Scarlett Nuce Mayle; sons, Edward “Eddie” Mayle, Jr. and his wife Arren of Ocean Springs, Miss., Elliott Mayle and his wife Jessica Mayle of Morgantown, and Evan Mayle of Morgantown; grandchildren, Angelina Mayle, Levi Mayle, and Ella Mayle; his sister, Donna Wilkins and her husband Jamie of Ohio, and Forrest Mayle and his wife Tammy of Morgantown; and a host of extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be held at McCulla Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6, and again on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Daniel Strosnider officiating. Interment will follow at Nicholson Chapel Cemetery.
