John DeGardeyn III, 69, of Point Marion, Pa., passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, following a lengthy illness.
Born Sept. 12, 1954, in Fairmont, he was a son of the late Delores (Moats) and John DeGardeyn Jr.
A 1972 graduate of Albert Gallatin High School, he worked for a while on the river boats and barges. Later, after graduating from Uniontown Technical School, he was employed at the Chestnut Ridge Hospital in Morgantown as a licensed practical nurse.
Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Tammy (Roderick) DeGardeyn; three children, Miana DeGardeyn of Nevada, Adam DeGardeyn of Tennessee, and Abram DeGardeyn of Point Marion; three grandchildren, Samson, Lindy and Emilia; a sister, Anna Marie O’Shea and husband Sean of South Carolina, and two nephews, Gregg and Thomas Leavitt.
Friends will be received in The Bridge Baptist Church, Masontown, Pa., on Saturday Oct. 7, 2023, from 1-2 p.m, the hour of a memorial service with Pastor Aaron Douthitt officiating. Interment follows in Cedar Grove Cemetery, New Geneva.
