Richard W.L. Wiles, 96, of Morgantown, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023, at 4:22 a.m. at his home. He was born Sept. 12, 1927, in Howesville, a son of the late Barton and Marie (Preston) Wiles.
He worked at Mon Power for 43 years and served in the United States Army. He formerly bowled for the power company bowling team and enjoyed building bird houses.
He is survived by his wife, Stella Louise Wiles; daughter, Nancy Taylor; sisters, Dottie and Loraine; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Loretta Stewart; brothers, Wayne and Howard Wiles; grandson, Ray Stewart; and great-grandchild, Austin Taylor.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, until the time of the funeral service at noon with Pastor Rich Schimansky officiating. Interment will take place at Shay’s Chapel Cemetery in Preston County.
