Linda Stevenson

Linda K. Stevenson, 75, of Newburg, entered her eternal rest on Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, at Mon General Hospital, surrounded by her family.

She was born Jan. 9, 1948, in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Kermit “KD” and Juanita Wolfe of Newburg.

She was a 1965 graduate of Newburg High School. She married the love of her life, Jennings “Frank” Stevenson, on July 14, 1965. He preceded her in death in May 2004. She devoted her life to her family and was a loving wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt, and cousin. She was Pentecostal by faith.

She enjoyed shopping, eating at “Hot Dog Heaven,” traveling, especially to the beach and going to camp at Big Bear. She loved to sing gospel songs and her soprano was unmatched. You would be hard pressed to find a bigger fan of Elvis. But her greatest joy was being with her family and proudly was the “Momma Bear.”
She is survived by her children, Darrell Sr. and Gloria Stevenson of Tunnelton, Sonynita Fitchett of Reedsville, Leyanita and Randy “RJ” Yost of Newburg, Vanitalyn and Michael Yerkovich of Reedsville, and Shanda and John Merchant of Martinsburg, whom she considered her other daughter. She is also survived by her grandson, Franklin Fitchett; her bonus grandchildren, CJ, Samantha and Johnathan Yerkovich, Brandon and Bryan Merchant; her great-grandchildren, Chelsea Stevenson, Cameron Poling, Jayden Dalton, and Carly Goldstrom. She is also survived by her in-laws, Reggie Wolfe, of Newburg, Barbara and Ray Selders, of Oakland, Md., and Wayman and Donna Stevenson of Ala.; her special nephews and niece, Rodney, Rochelle, and Greg; along with countless other nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son; her grandsons, Darrell Jr. and Justin Stevenson; and her brother, Leonard K. Wolfe.

The family would like to express our sincerest gratitude to Amedisys for the loving care they provided to our mom, especially Carla and Robin.

Friends and family may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 27, and on Thursday, Sept. 28, from noon-1 p.m. service time with Pastor Chris Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Reedsville.
