April Adams

April Ann Adams went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 4, 2023, in Morgantown. She was born June 1, 1962, to Daun Benson Adams and the late Lester Morris Adams of Core.

Over the last 32 years, April had made her home in Melbourne, Fla., in the house she inherited from her Grandmother Benson. She came back to visit on the farm in Core as often as she could. In more recent years, after her father died in 2015, she took the responsibility of caring for her mother, Daun, who is still living at 98 years of age. April graduated from WVU with a bachelor of arts in photography. She will be missed by her six cousins and many, many friends from her high school days (Morgantown High, class of 1980); college friends (WVU, class of 1984); neighbors and friends from Core and Buckeye United Methodist Church where she grew up; members of the Rainbow Girls and Delta Delta Delta Sorority; as well as her church family in Melbourne, Fla.

April was an outdoor enthusiast! During her college days, she often went spelunking at Laurel Caverns with friends and family. She also loved riding dirt bikes and, later, 4-wheelers. She enjoyed kayaking, paddleboarding and long walks on the beach with her favorite dog Buddy. She was a certified scuba diver. She was very artistic and made ornaments out of seashells and sold them at craft shows. She took her mom to Disney World and on other fun adventures. April loved life and loved to have fun!
She leaves behind her sister, Margaret Adams Drvar of Morgantown; her brother, Alan Adams of Finksburg, Md.; her brother, Mark Adams and his wife Tammie of Midlothian, Va.; nephews, Jacob Drvar and wife Kim of Clarksville, Tenn.; Jared Drvar and wife Lindsey of Morgantown; Todd Adams of Alexandria, Va.; Daniel Adams and wife Jenna of Statesboro, Ga.; Evan Adams of Alexandria, Va.; Ryan Adams of Finksburg, Md.; and nieces, Savanah Adams Kelly and husband Stuart of Lynchburg, Va.; and Felicia Adams of of Finksburg, Md. Also she leaves behind a great-niece and two great-nephews: Arabella Drvar, Luke Drvar and Jace Drvar. The family is grateful and wishes to give special thanks to our cousin, Geraldine Adams Layman, who provided her time, nursing services, and home for April’s nursing care.

Friends and family will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, and again on Saturday, Sept. 9, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Morgantown.

Donations will be accepted in lieu of flowers to help defray illness and funeral expenses.
