Jackie Sargent

Jackie Sargent, 79, passed away peacefully in the presence of her children at Morgantown Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Sept. 18, 1943, in Morgantown, daughter of the late Okey and Bertha
Martin.

She graduated with the class of 1961 from Morgantown High School. She was employed at WVU Hospitals, the Pajama Factory and the Madison Rehabilitation Center. She was also a homemaker for many years, opening her home to many family members who were in need of care.

Jackie was a Christian by faith and attended Nazarene and Emmanuel Baptist Church. She enjoyed bowling in many leagues and tournaments throughout the years. She was very active during her stay at the nursing home and became president of the Resident Council. Jackie also adored her family, which was evident by the collages she would display throughout the years.

She is survived by a son, John (Trish) Sargent; a daughter, Rhonda (Michael) Johnson; five grandchildren, Emily (Johnny) Crane, Hannah (Tim) Liebrecht, Rachel (Zachary) Stouffer, Derek (Chelsea) Johnson, and Ryan (Brooke) Sargent, all from Morgantown; 10 great-grandchildren, Carly, Carson, Cohen, Caroline Crane, Amelia, Benson, Camden Liebrecht, Hazel Sargent, Harper Stouffer, Bryson Johnson and Scarlotte Allen; several nieces and nephews; as well as her roommate and friend until the end, Diane Carder.

In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Sargent; sisters, Evelyn Martin, Verna Duley, Trudy Bysarovich, Betty Knisell, and one brother, Wilford Martin.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Fred Jenkins Funeral Home on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023, from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m. with her granddaughter’s husband, Pastor Johnny Crane, officiating. Private burial will take place at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens at a later date.
