Cheryl Bohon

Cheryl “Cherry” Lorraine Bohon, 80, of Rowlesburg, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2023, with her family by her side at the Morgantown Health and Rehabilitation Center under the amazing care of West Virginia Caring Hospice.

Cherry was born May 3, 1943, in Rowlesburg, the daughter of Jeff and Susan Bohon. Cherry attended Romney School for the Deaf as a child, and was a loving, joyful, free spirit who never met a stranger. She was a believer in Jesus Christ and attended church regularly as long as she was physically able to. Her constant smile drew others to her, and she was strong-willed, brave, and adventurous. Cherry loved deer, enjoying a cold Coke or beer, and shopping. She finally got to go to her eternal home where she has perfect hearing and is reunited with her sisters Lena and Ruby. After Lena’s passing Cherry was blessed to be taken care of and lived with her adopted family Amy, Mike, Darby and Mariah Grimm in Kingwood. She was spoiled by her friends Malisa and Ruby Smith and Stacy and Jacee Greaser.

She is survived by her nieces, Pam Bohon, of Rowlesburg, and Donna Bohon Fritz, of Baltimore, Md.; nephew and wife, Charlie and Janet Stemple; and niece and husband, Susan and Jim McCray, of Terra Alta; several cousins and grand-nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by her brothers, Ralph Bohon, Billie Bohon, and Charles Bohon, and sisters, Edna Bohon, Gladys Bohon Stemple, Agnes Bohon, Ruby Bohon, and Lena Bohon.

Family will have a visitation at the Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price Street, Kingwood, from 9-11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 4, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., with Reverend Malisa Smith officiating. Interment to follow at Red Rock Cemetery, Rowlesburg.
