Tickets still available for ‘fanciful’ fundraiser at MAC

Looking to fulfill your midsummer night’s dream?

Tickets are still available for Monongalia Arts Center’s upcoming fundraiser, which sports the theme of Shakespeare’s aforementioned play.

Costumes are optional — but if you feel like dressing up in your fairy-like best, organizers are all for it.

Set for 6 p.m. Aug. 19, the evening will feature live music by Aristotle Jones, Shakespearean monologues, an art auction, costume contest, mask-making workshop and bites catered by Mama K’s Kitchen Costumes. Wines and beer from Mountain State Brewing will also be included with tickets.

Tickets are $70 per person.

Sponsorship opportunities range from $100- $2,000.

Information on tickets and sponsorship are available on monartscenter.com/macs-dream.

MAC was established in the late 1970s and has stood as the cornerstone of the area’s arts scene since.

The center has a long history as a cultural institution serving the community with access to art exhibitions, educational programs and events across all artistic mediums.

It houses two galleries, a theater and multiple classrooms. In recent years MAC has fallen on hard financial times between the pandemic and repairs needed on the historic building.

Attendance at this event will help the MAC sustain arts programing and to reopen full-time again.

Strategic plans for revitalization of the building include infrastructure improvements and spatial renovations to create a center equipped to serve a modern community of artists and art enthusiasts.
