Anna Mouser

Anna Marie Mouser, 83 of Independence, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at her residence. She was born on July 22, 1940, in Newburg, daughter of the late Toney and Freda June (Wolfe) Giuliani. Anna graduated from Newburg High School, Class of 1958. In 1965, Arthur and Anna purchased a 188-acre farm in Independence that became Mouser Charolais Farm. Today the herd is one of the most well-known and respected in the state. The family was active in 4-H, exhibiting market animals at the Preston County Buckwheat Festival for over fifty years. Over the years, they participated in several county, state, national events and expos. Anna was a member of the West Virginia Charolais Association where she was Secretary/Treasurer and the American-International Charolais Association. Anna was a Master Gardener having completed the programs through the Preston County Extension Service. She grew several different vegetables and she canned to share with the kids and families. Anna was vice president of the WVACD Auxiliary. In 1981, Anna started the Country Kids 4-H Club where she was very active and in 2003, she served as the Farmer’s Day chairman for the Preston County Buckwheat Festival. Many ribbons, banners and trophies have been won over the years. She was also a faithful member of the Grafton Baptist Church since 1985 where she was past children’s church teacher and treasurer. She retired from Southern States in Grafton with over twenty-five years of service. Anna was inducted into the WV AG and Forestry Hall of Fame. She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-four, Arthur Ray Mouser, whom she married on December 3, 1958; five children, Cynthia McCloud and Patrick, Newburg, Timothy Mouser and Melissa, Gladesville, Michelle Harward and Don, Grafton, Thomas Mouser and Michelle, Valley Furnace, Maria Shriver and Dave, Grafton; 13 grandchildren, Sharon(Jason), Jason(Kayla), Logan, Brooke(Steven), Miranda, Lakin, DW, Rebekah, Josiah, Chloe, Briar, Aaron and Kinsey; 14 great-grandchildren, Tylar, Morgan, Mara, Karson, Alyson, Madyson, Landon, Weston, Stella, Gatlin, Riley, Colt, Archer, Thea; one brother, Hugh Giuliani and wife, Carol, Arthurdale; two brothers-in-law, Wayne Mouser, Independence, Dave Born, Va.; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Mouser; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John Arthur and Pearl Genevieve (Sharps) Mouser; sisters-in-law, Betty Fortney (Bernard), and Sue Born. Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave. Newburg, WV, from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, August 3, and Friday, August 4, from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Don Harward officiating.
