Jacqueline Kay Marshall, known to all as Jackie, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Born on June 18, 1958, in Morgantown, Jackie lived a life filled with love, courage and generosity, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Jackie was the beloved wife of Daniel P. Marshall, cherished mother of Ethan Daniel Marshall and his wife Charis of Grafton, and doting grandmother to Evelyn Rose Marshall. She is also survived by her loving daughter, Andrea Brier Marshall. Jackie was the dear sister of Rhonda Schmidt and her husband John, of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, Keith and Patty Osborne.
After graduating high school, Jackie devoted
18 years of her life working as a clerk at Kroger. She was an esteemed member of the team, admired for her dedication, hard work and kind-hearted nature. Jackie had a profound love for animals, a passion she channeled into her role as an animal rescue advocate. She generously donated to Animal Friends nonprofit, lending her support to a cause close to her heart. Jackie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved the thrill of horseback riding, the peace of hiking and the adventure of camping. An avid reader, she enjoyed both non-fiction and fiction, with Stephen King being her favorite author. In her later years, she found delight in playing Scrabble on her phone, a testament to her love for words and her competitive spirit.
Jackie had a deep affection for sunflowers. Their radiant yellow petals symbolized her vibrant spirit and her ability to spread joy wherever she went. Whenever you see a sunflower, remember Jackie, remember her warmth, her love and her generous heart.
Jackie was a woman of immense courage, a trait she exhibited throughout her life. Her strength was an inspiration to all, a beacon of hope in the face of adversity. She was a loving woman, her heart filled with unending love for her family and friends. Her generosity knew no bounds, as she was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need
As we remember Jackie, we are reminded of the words of the renowned author Maya Angelou, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Jackie made everyone around her feel loved and cherished, her memory will forever be etched in our hearts
As we mourn the loss of Jackie, we also celebrate a life well-lived, a life filled with love, courage and generosity. She has left a lasting legacy, one that will continue to inspire us. May her soul rest in peace
Family and friends are invited to gather at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 2, until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. with James Watkins officiating. Jackie will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens immediately following the funeral service.
