MORGANTOWN — First Tee of West Virginia and The Turn indoor golf club will team up to let young golfers in Morgantown have a high-tech experience this weekend.
On Sunday, First Tee of West Virginia Morgantown area is putting on a STEM Day event at The Turn in White Hall, W.Va., to let youth golfers try indoor golf simulators.
“It’s amazing, it breaks down the specifics of your swing,” Morgantown area lead coach Brenda Moran said. “It’s pretty cool, you can focus on your club head and fix your swing.”
Not only do the simulators track a player’s swing and give feedback in real-time, but they can also simulate playing on nearly any golf source in the world.
“You could play so many courses. You could play Pebble Beach, there’s endless courses you could play on,” Moran said.

First Tee of West Virginia Morgantown area holds multiple sessions for golfers aged 5-18 from April through the beginning of October at Lakeview Golf Resort.
“I can’t say enough about the program and the core values that we have,” Moran said. “I’ve seen it take kids who are shy and it really brings out their personality because they get excited about the game.”
Moran said she’s seen an increase in golf’s popularity in recent years, especially among women and children.
“All kinds of people at the course, of all ages, say it’s a wonderful thing and they’re really excited to see kids getting into it,” Moran said. “When you see them smile when they hit a good shot, it makes it all worth it.”
