Gene Tritchler

On Saturday, July 8, 2023, Gene Edward Tritchler went home to be with his loved ones that have passed on before him. He passed peacefully in his home with his wife and daughter with him. Gene was a coal miner for 23 years of his life, working for CONSOL, and went on to later retire from Mylan Pharmaceuticals in 2015. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Gene is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sheila Tritchler; his daughters, Courtney Lewis and spouse Jason Lewis of Kingwood, Rachael “Sam” Fortney of Cheat Lake, and Kristie Pyles of Morgantown. He was the Pappaw to five grandchildren, Gwyneth Paige Fortney of Morgantown, Sebastian Matthew Lewis of Kingwood, Lauren Grace Lewis of Kingwood, and Charlie Rease and Danni Shea Fortney — Heiskell of Cheat Lake. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph “Buzz” Tritchler and Mary Florence McCord Tritchler; as well as his brother, Kenneth “Spike” Tritchler who passed on the same day, July 8, two years ago.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 2 p.m. on Friday, July 14, until the time of the service at 5 p.m. Honoring Gene’s wishes, cremation will follow.

The family would like to thank everyone that has called, stopped by, or even just sent prayers and condolences at this time. Everything has been greatly appreciated by his entire family.
