Mary Lou Shaffer, age 75, of Tunnelton, went to be with the Lord, June 13, 2023, at Kingwood Health Center. She was born September 2, 1947, in Grafton, a daughter of the late Robert and Juanita “Blondel” (Messenger) Watkins. Her husband, James Shaffer survives, they were united in marriage December 10, 1964.
Mrs. Shaffer was a homemaker, she enjoyed spending time with her family and had a great love for her grandchildren. She was a member of the Kingwood Christian Fellowship where she played an active role. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, cooking and baking, particularly pies.
In addition to her husband she is survived by one son, Timothy Scott Shaffer, of Tunnelton; two daughters, Amy Denise Bolyard and husband Roger, of Kingwood, and Shelly Leanne Shaffer and companion Jake, of Kingwood; one brother, Jerry Watkins and wife Imogene, of Statesville, N.C.; three grandchildren, Samantha Shaffer, Noah Bolyard, and Sarah Bolyard; and one brother-in-law, Ray Moore.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her stepmother who raised her, Esther Jean (Paugh) Watkins; and three stepsisters, Jaqueline Moore, Devetta Nestor, and Madonna Plum.
Friends may call at Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price Street, Kingwood, from 11-2 p.m. and 4-7 p.m. on Friday. Funeral services will be conducted at the Kingwood Christian Fellowship on Saturday, June 17, at noon. Mrs. Shaffer will lie in repose from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at the church. Pastors Derek Syruws and Pastor John Shaffer officiating. Interment at Sunset Memorial Park.
