Wilbur “Butch” Lee Stewart, 77, of Bluffton, SC died on Monday, May 8, 2023, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Ga.
Butch was born in Lake Lynn, Pa., on March 21, 1946, the son of the late Lewis and Lora Stewart. After graduating from Albert Gallatin High, he attended a trade school and then served as a custodian at West Virginia University for over 30 years.
Butch enjoyed time spent with family and friends. He regularly attended his granddaughter’s sporting events and supported Bluffton High School athletics while living in South Carolina. Butch became a member of Island Lutheran Church in Hilton Head and was baptized there in August 2014. He always liked going to classic car shows and following the WVU Mountaineers. Butch was a collector of old money, antiques and record albums. He enjoyed riding his bike around the neighborhood while listening to oldies and stopping to visit with neighbors.
Butch is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Delores Stewart, whom he married on May 22, 1968 and moved to Bluffton, S.C., with in April 2014. He is also survived by son, Todd Stewart and his wife, Kristy; granddaughter, Payton Stewart; brother, Ray Stewart; and sister, Wilma Lincoln and her husband, Chuck.
In addition to his parents, Butch is preceded in death by his sisters Elva Mae Reese and Pearl Geelen.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown WV, from 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, until the time of the funeral service at noon with Rev. Zac Morton officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
