Randal Zinn

Randal “Randy” Nelson Zinn, 71, of Tunnelton, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023, at his residence.

He was born on May 27, 1951, in Grafton, a son of the late Donas Nelson and Hilda Emmaline Morris Zinn.

Randy graduated from Tunnelton High School, Class of 1969. He received his bachelor’s from Fairmont State College and his master’s from WVU. He was an educator within the Preston County School system for his entire career. Randy was a member of St Sebastian Catholic Church. He was an avid sports fan, especially the WVU Mountaineers and Pittsburgh Pirates.

Randy’s one true passion was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He constantly strived to ensure his family was happy, supported and loved.

Randy is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Diane Miller Zinn; four sons, Anthony (Michelle) Zinn of Kingwood, Patrick (Lisette) Zinn of Canonsburg, PA, Christopher (Zulay) Zinn, Houston, TX, Zachary (Swapna) Zinn of Morgantown; grandchildren, Adam, Sophie, Alè, Abby, Myla, Riya, Samantha, Audrey, Mira and Graham; siblings, Charles (Karen) Zinn, Shirley Gainer, Elizabeth (John) Poland, Paula McGinnis and Janis ( Larry) Bolyard; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Readd Hawkins.

Friends may call at Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 South Price Street, on Thursday, May 11, from 2 – 8 p.m. with a Prayer Vigil at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 12, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 322 East Main Street, Kingwood, WV beginning at 11 a.m., with Father Dominic Athishu as Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tunnelton Vol. Fire Department, PO Box 12 Tunnelton, WV 26444 or Kamp Ambulance, 133 Wellsley St. Kingwood, WV 26537.
