Joyce was born in Grafton, on August 15, 1935. She received a diploma in nursing from Saint Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in Clarksburg, and subsequently served as a devoted nurse for more than 40 years, touching many lives from newborns and their mothers to patients in rehabilitation.

Joyce was an avid flower gardener, fervent Scrabble player, and a proud and lifelong fan of both the Grafton Bearcats and the WVU Mountaineers. She leaves behind a wealth of witty “Joyce-isms”, which her family will fondly recount with love and a great deal of laughter for many years to come. Joyce McKinney Nail was, truly, one of a kind and she will be dearly missed.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
