Paul Edward Calvert, 89, of Kingwood, joined his loving wife of 44 years, Gladys Pauline (Saffle) Calvert, on Sunday, April 23, 2023. He was born Nov. 21, 1933, in Borgman, son of the late Harry James and Mary Agnes Barlow Calvert.
Paul was a veteran, serving in the Army as a combat engineer, during the Korean War. He was assistant vice president at Albright National Bank and WesBanco Bank in Kingwood, where he helped many members of the community purchase their first cars and homes. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and bowling in the Senior League. Paul was treasurer of the Kiwanis, Knights of Columbus, Hospice Care and Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He was also an active member of Saint Sebastian Catholic Church and enjoyed singing in the choir for many years.
Paul is survived by one son, Paul Kevin Calvert and wife Kari, of Morgantown; two daughters, Paula Calvert Bass and husband Jeff, of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Pamella Calvert Brown, of Kingwood; four grandchildren: Austin Brown, of Fort Bragg, N.C., Cody Calvert, Hannah Calvert and Preston Calvert, all of Morgantown; two brothers and wives, Fred and Margie Calvert, of Gallipolis, Ohio, and Bob and Patty Calvert, of Kingwood; one sister, Carolyn Fischer, of Kingwood; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Nicklow, of Cleveland, and Mary K. Viggiani, of Henderson, Nev.
In addition to his parents and wife, Gladys, he is preceded in death by; one sister and husband, Nellie Nimcheck and Frank; a brother-in-law, John Fischer; and a sister-in-law, Thelma Shaffer.
Friends will be received at Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 South Price St., Kingwood, from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, April 28. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Sebastian Catholic Church, 322 East Main St., Kingwood, beginning at 10 a.m., on Saturday, April 29, with Father Dominic Athishu as celebrant. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery, Morgantown, with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Catholic Church of Preston County, 322 East Main St., Kingwood, WV 26537.
