John Nailler

John “Tom” Thomas Nailler, 83, of Morgantown, passed away at his home on Friday, April 21, 2023. He was born on March 15, 1940, in Charleston, son of the late Charles and Wilma (Miller) Nailler.

Tom was a loyal member of 71 years with Wesley United Methodist Church. He worked as maintenance supervisor at Consol’s Humphrey Mine and retired after 35 years of service. He was also a member of the Pines and served as president of the Nailler Foundation.

In his free time, Tom thoroughly enjoyed golfing, gardening, painting and fishing.

Left to cherish his memories is his loving wife of 61 years, Barbara Diane (Gibbs) Nailler; his children, Tami Cira and husband C.J., and Heather Nailler and Charles T. Nailler; grandchildren: Courtney Cira and husband Steve Blinco, Morgan Cira and fiancé Dustin Matheny, Christina Shields and husband Anthony and Mackenzie Cira and Chyenna Brown; great-grandchildren: Penelope Rose Blinco, Lucy Cira Shields, John Anthony Shields, Rosie Elizabeth Shields, Charles Joseph Shields, Vincent Salvatore Shields, DeJuan Upton Williams, Legend Carter Williams and Harlem Nette Brown; siblings, William Nailler and Joseph Nailler and wife Elaine; many nieces and nephews; and his loving pets, Tootsie Roll and Maggie Mae.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Ann Johnson; grandson, Joshua Johnson; and siblings: Charles Price, William Fouty, Michael Thatcher and Janet Jackson. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to be made in Tom’s memory to Wesley United Methodist Church, 503 N. High St., Morgantown, WV 26505.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice and its staff for Tom’s care. Friends and family will be received at Wesley United Methodist Church, 503 N. High St., Morgantown, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 27 with Pastor Martha Ognibene officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Cemetery.
