Phyllis Gean Johnson, 83, of Jakes Run, died Friday, April 21, 2023, in the Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown.
She was born Nov. 9, 1939, at Folsom, a daughter of the late Wilford Trader and Nettie Hayhurst Trader. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Earl Johnson Sr., who died on Dec. 8, 2000; and a son-in-law, William Edgell Jr. in 2022.
Surviving is a daughter, Carol Johnson Edgell; son, Robert Earl Johnson Jr.; grandson, Matthew Scott Johnson and his wife Ashley Poling Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker. She attended the Church of Christ at Daybrook and at Mooresville.
The family wishes to thank hospice nurses, Molly Rogers, Sarah Anderson, Melissa Estep, Pastor Rich and the staff at Sundale Nursing Home where she had resided for the last two years in the hospice wing for their care and dedication to Phyllis; and the nurses at Mon Health Medical Center for their care during this difficult time, Farrah, Mak and Cierra.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by siblings, Chub Trader, Jack Trader, Mike Trader, Helen Johnson and Nellie Johnson.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, April 24. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Rich Schimansky officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery at Pentress.
