Clarence John Keener Jr. “Junior” 87, of Reedsville, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Morgantown, surrounded by family filling the room with love, telling stories and sharing memories. He was born Dec. 1, 1935, son of the late Clarence John and Grace Malida (Burch) Keener, of Morgantown.
Clarence was employed at Sterling Faucet for many years, then left to continue his passion for farming, raising dairy and beef cattle; never really retiring.
He enjoyed family cookouts, WVU basketball, riding around the farm on his side-by-side and Sunday drives with Lucille.
Clarence is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Lucille (McDonald) Keener; his children: John (Virginia) Keener, Patty (Tim) Rice, Pam (Dave) Nicholson, Randy (Sheila) Keener, Robin (Mike) Hart and Tina Keener; his grandchildren: John David Keener, Jason (Lisa) Keener, Kevin (Brittany) Keener, Tyler (Tiffany) Rice, Lindsay (Andre) Layfield, Andrea (Derek) Duesenberry, Stephanie (Rich) Franks, Stacey (Brandon) Myers, Garrett Sanders and fiancé, Mickenze and Matthew Sanders and fiancé, Mackenzie; and 11 great-grandchildren with one great-grandchild due in July.
In addition to his parents, Clarence is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Brooke, and one great-grandson, Mason.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, March 3 and will continue from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4 with Pastors Rose Saunders and Elmer Nicholson. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
