Danny Ray Phillips, 63 of Newburg, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023 at his residence. He was born on July 2, 1959 in Kingwood, son of the late Harold “Buck” Ray Phillips and Ruby Frances “Sines” Phillips.
Danny graduated from West Preston High School, Class of 1978. He last worked for Mount Israel Cemetery for 20 years and before that at American Home in Morgantown and Marrara Store and Gas Station in Kingwood. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and riding his four-wheeler.
He is survived by one brother, David Glen Phillips, of Newburg; one sister, Vickie Lee Phillips Thomas and husband Marvin, of Newburg; four nieces and nephews, Marcus Thomas, Stacy Thomas Cox, Natoshia Phillips and Nathan Thomas; one great-nephew, Eli Johnson; two great-nieces, G.G. White and Cali Cox; two aunts, Sandy Sines, of Morgantown, and Phyllis Sines, of Tunnelton; and several cousins. In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by one sister-in-law, Roberta Marshall Phillips; one nephew, Cory Cox; two great-nephews, Xander and Xavier Mancuso; maternal grandparents, Foster and Helen Virginia (Plum) Sines; paternal grandparents, Tom and Virginia (Glass) Phillips; two uncles, Jimmie Sines and Bobby Sines; and two aunts, Bonnie Owens and Audrey Lee Hall.
Family and friends will be received at the Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown St. Newburg, from 3-7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, and from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21, with Pastor Sonny McNear officiating. Burial will follow at the Mount Israel Cemetery at Marquess. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Danny’s memory to Mount Israel Fellowship Hall, 744 Stone Hollow Road, Tunnelton, WV 26444.
