Laura May Christopher Ridenour, 91, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023, at the Mon Health Medical Center.
She was born May 11, 1931, in Scottdale, Pa., the daughter of Zonie and Catherine Calvert Christopher. At the time of her death, Laura was living in the Catawba Community, Fairmont. She was raised and lived in Morgantown, where she would graduate from Morgantown High School in 1950.
She worked at several places in Morgantown, including Morgantown Hardware, O.J. Morrisons and retired from the Monongalia General Hospital, now Mon Health Medical Center, with more than 40 years of service.
She was a people person and enjoyed, quilting, jigsaw puzzles and crafts. She also wrote a number of poems and short stories.
Laura is survived by her two children; Laura Ann Lemley and husband David, of Morgantown; Marshall Ridenour and wife Beverly, of Mount Olivet, Ky.; one grandson, Bradley Ridenour, of Kentucky; one great-grandson, Joseph Ridenour; step-grandchildren: Shawna Lemley Smith and husband Tim and Chara Lemley and friend Shawn; and step-great-grandchildren, Elliott Smith and Addi Smith.
In addition to her parents, Laura was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Ridenour, and one brother, Melvin Christopher, in 1937.
Friends and family are invited to gather at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home, from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, and again from 11 AM until time of services at noon on Tuesday with Pastor Gary Steele officiating.
She will rest with beside her husband at Pisgah Cemetery, Smithtown Road, Morgantown.
