Walter Marion Burns, 85, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022. Walter was born Nov. 12, 1937, in Morgantown a son of the late Walter William and Gale Burns.
Walter was a retired supervisor with the West Virginia Division of Highways with 37 years of service. He was a member of the Moose, Westover VFW and the American Legion.
Walter is survived by one daughter, Debra M. Burns-Cooke and husband Roy Lee Cooke of Fairmont; two sons, Joe Burns of Morgantown and William Burns and wife Melissa of Maidsville; grandchildren, Sierra Smith (Thunder) and their children Gray and Weston, William Burns Jr. (Hannah), Chelsea McCann (Justin) and their children Lilly and Amelia, Hannah Grey Burns, Jackson Burns, Cory Kyle, Jesse Kyle and many other grandchildren.
Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Louverna Burns in 2011; two daughters, Roberta Ann Burns Riggleman and Cindy Ray Burns; three sisters, Francis McDonald and Mary Vernon Llewellyn Cox and Barbara Jean Rogers.

770 Fairmont Road, Westover from 3-6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023, and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m., with James Paugh Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery.
