Brannon Riffle

Dr. Brannon E. Riffle passed away Dec. 12, 2022, in Greensboro, N.C.

He was born Oct. 24, 1927, in Rosemont, to the late Brannon and Thelma Nestor Riffle.

He was a World War II Navy veteran and served in Japan. He earned his degree from the Illinois College of Optometry and worked as an independent Optometrist in Philippi and Morgantown for over 40 years. He enjoyed golfing (actually had two witnessed holes-in-one) and attending WVU basketball games (was a season ticket holder for both men’s and women’s teams).

He is survived by his wife, Loma Harvey Riffle, of Morgantown; two children, son Eric and daughter-in-law Annette, of Greensboro, N.C., and daughter, Anne, of Morgantown; three granddaughters, Angie, of Atlanta, Courtney of Arlington, N.C., and Claire, of Greensboro, N.C.; and three sisters, Brenda and Jeri, of Asheboro, and Jane, of Richmond, Va.

A brief funeral service will be held at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton, WV 26354 at noon on Monday, Dec. 19. Interment will follow at the WV National Cemetery in Grafton.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions to be made to the WVU Medicine’s Children’s Hospital, attention Child Life Program, 1 Medical Center Drive, Box 8200, Morgantown, WV 26506.

Bartlett Funeral Home in Grafton and Forbis & Dick Funeral Home in Greensboro, N.C. are coordinating the arrangements.
