State Rural Development welcomes new staff member to W.Va. team

The USDA Rural Development West Virginia office welcomed Travis Wilfong as an associate enterprise director to the state Rural Development team.

Wilfong comes to USDA Rural Development from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service West Virginia office, where he served as the business services specialist since 2017.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Travis to the team,” said Ryan Thorn, West Virginia state director for USDA Rural Development. “The vast experience he’s gained from past positions within USDA make him a valuable asset to Rural Development, our employees and the stakeholders we serve.”

As associate enterprise director, Wilfong will serve as advisor and program manager on administrative matters involving human resources, contracting and procurement, and budget and fiscal management.

In addition to his most recent role with NRCS, Wilfong held positions as the public affairs and administrative specialist for the USDA Farm Service Agency West Virginia office and wildland fire technician and recreation technician with the U.S. Forest Service in Alabama. Wilfong is a graduate of West Virginia University, earning a bachelor’s degree in forest resource management.
