Cody Cooper

Cody Lawton Cooper, 27, of Nemacolin, Pa., passed away with his wife by his side on Friday, Nov. 25, 2022, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

Cody was born on Dec. 14, 1994, in Morgantown, a son of Gary Franklin and Heather (Whittaker) Cooper Jr., of Albright, and Cindy (Gordy) and Richard “Dick” Coddington Jr., of Bruceton Mills.
Cody was a 2013 graduate of Preston High School in Kingwood, where he was on the lacrosse team. He was an avid video game player and enjoyed table games, role playing games, airsoft and building computers.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of four years, Kristi (Knotts) Cooper, of Nemacolin, Pa.; brother and sisters, Taylor Cooper, of Bruceton Mills, Hunter Whittaker, of Albright, and Nicole Coddington and partner Joey Tasker, of Deer Park, Md.; his Aunt Melynda “Mac” (Cooper) and husband, Chris Jones, of Waynesburg, Pa.; maternal grandparents, Gerald and Louise Welch, of Hicks, La., and Jeanette and Robert Gordy, of Hicks, La.; honorary grandmother, Ma Ma Aunt Kala Gordy, of Hicks, La..; his mother and father-in-law, James and Angela Knotts, of Tunnelton; brother-in-law, Bryan Scott and Abie Knotts, of Kingwood; nephew Braylan Knotts, of Kingwood; and niece, Grayle Knotts, of Kingwood.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gary and Linda (Maxwell) Cooper, and his sister, Melissa Kaye Cooper.

Friends will be received at the Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 South Price St. from 2 p.m. to the 5 p.m. memorial service at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, Nov. 30. Cremation was handled by the Kingwood Funeral Home and Crematory at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Kingwood.
